An 8-year-old girl drowned in the tragic incident, while her two-year-old sister was rescued safely after they fell into a water-filled pit while playing in a field in Sultanpur village under the Farrukhnagar area on Monday.
According to the police, the incident took place on Monday afternoon in Sultanpur village. Sunil, a native of Sitapur district, currently works as a rented laborer in Sultanpur village.
On Monday, he was harvesting wheat in a field in the village. His two daughters, Chhabi (8) and Nidhi (2), were also present with him on the farm. While playing, the two girls reached a water pit a short distance away and suddenly fell into it.
After getting information, the father, with the help of bystanders, immediately pulled them both out. The younger daughter, Nidhi, was rescued safely, while the older daughter, Chhabi, was in critical condition. People rushed Chhabi to SGT Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
A senior police officer said that the Farukhnagar police station said that the family had not filed any complaint. Following the information provided to the police, legal procedures are being completed.
