Wheat arrivals in Jalandhar district remained steady on Monday with procurement operations continuing smoothly across the mandis. According to the daily purchase report, total wheat arrival for the day stood at 62,460 metric tonnes (MT), taking the progressive arrival this season up to 1.80 lakh MT.
On the procurement side, agencies purchased 69,421 MT of wheat during the day, taking the total procurement so far to 1,68,470 MT. Government procurement agencies accounted for 1,68,365 MT of the total purchase, while private traders purchased 105 MT.
Additionally, lifting of wheat from mandis remained comparatively lower than procurement levels on the day. Against a 72 hours lifting requirement of 24,721 MT, the actual lifting recorded during the day was 15,806 MT. The progressive lifting so far stands at 31,435 MT. Officials indicated that lifting operations are being monitored to ensure timely movement of stock from procurement centres.
In terms of payments, the procurement agencies have released Rs 337 crore so far in the district. The report shows that payment processing is progressing as per procurement norms, ensuring farmers receive payments for their produce within the stipulated period.
