The Gurugram police's crime branch teams on Tuesday carried out a strike on land mafias demolishing their illegal encroachments and freeing government land.

According to the police, teams from the Sector 31 and 40 crime branches, along with Duty Magistrate RS Bath and HSVP officials took action. With the help of a heavy police force, illegal encroachments on HSVP government land in Sector 53 and Wazirabad were identified and completely demolished with the help of heavy machinery.

In this operation, criminals Virendra alias Lilu and Tarun alias Monu alias Numberdar, both residents of village Wazirabad were targeted. They have a history of serious crimes, including theft, drug trafficking and extortion, and have been imprisoned several times.

The investigation also revealed that these criminals exploited vulnerable communities by building illegal slums on government land, collecting illegal rent from them, and using these locations to operate and expand organised crime activities.

"The Gurugram police are fully committed to protecting public lands, maintaining law and order, and protecting citizens from exploitation. Such intelligence-based, rigorous operations will continue with even greater intensity in the future to ensure a crime-free and safe Gurugram," said a spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
