Phagwara village Wajidowal has taken a significant step toward improving local infrastructure as the village council, under the leadership of Sarpanch Rimple Kumar, initiated multiple development projects funded by a grant received from the Punjab government.
The inauguration ceremony was carried out by constituency in-charge Harnur Singh Mann, who formally launched the works in the presence of several local representatives and community members.
Addressing the gathering, Mann emphasised that the state government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is prioritising rural development and ensuring that villages receive adequate financial support for essential infrastructure. He stated that since the current administration took office, substantial grants have been allocated to accelerate development projects, although he expressed concern that such progress is not always supported by opposition groups.
According to Sarpanch Rimple Kumar, the village council has received approximately Rs 13.80 lakh, which will be utilised for key public works. These include the construction of waste management dumping points, completion of pending water supply infrastructure, upgrading a major road with interlocking tiles, and cleaning and maintenance of the village pond. He noted that these projects aim to enhance sanitation, improve connectivity and provide better basic services to residents.
