Three booked for Rs 20.7 lakh overseas travel fraud

A case of alleged cheating and fraud involving Rs 20.7 lakh on the pretext of sending a young woman abroad has been registered by the Lohian police, bringing to light another instance of exploitation linked to overseas travel promises.

According to official information, the complainant Joginder Singh, resident of a village Null near Lohian reported that the accused had taken a sum of Rs 20.7 lakh with the assurance of sending his daughter Ramandeep Kaur to England.

However, the promise was not fulfilled and the family was allegedly cheated. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case against three accused identified as Paraminder Kaur, wife of Harpreet Singh, a resident of a village under Lohian police station; and Lovepreet Singh and Karanpreet Singh, both sons of Gurikbal Singh and residents of New Gurnam Nagar in Amritsar.

Police officials stated that the case has been registered under 406,420,34 IPC and 13 Punjab Travel Professions Regulation Act. None of the accused have been arrested so far. The preliminary investigation is being conducted under the supervision of a senior police officer and further inquiries are underway to examine the financial transactions and verify the extent of the alleged fraud.
