Two persons were killed and more than 20 others injured when a Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus collided head-on with a tipper near Lubana village on the Nabha-Bhadson road in Patiala district on Friday.
According to information, the bus was travelling from Khanna to Nabha when the accident occurred.
The police said two motorcyclists suddenly emerged from a village road. In an attempt to avoid hitting them, the bus driver reportedly took a sharp turn and collided with a tipper. The motorcyclists were also caught in the accident.
The deceased were identified as Seva Ram and Surjit Singh, both residents of Lubana village and aged above 50.
Bus driver Bhajan Singh and the tipper driver sustained serious injuries and were referred to Rajindra Hospital in Patiala.
Most of the injured were admitted to the Government Hospital in Nabha, while others were shifted to Bhadson hospital. The police reached the spot soon after receiving information and initiated an investigation.
