Unseasonal rain raises worry over crop yield

Heavy rain accompanied by lightning was reported from across the district on Tuesday, leaving farmers concerned about potential damage to standing crops.

The sky remained overcast throughout the day and heavy showers lashed the region in the evening.

Tajinderpal Singh of Rasulpur village said the rainfall has caused anxiety among farmers, as the ripe wheat crop has been flattened in several fields. As a result, grains have started falling from the plants, leading to losses.

Reports of heavy rain have come in from Chabal, Sarai Amanat Khan, Bhikhiwind, Khalra, Khemkaran, Harike, Chohla Sahib, and Khadoor Sahib. Gulzar Singh of Naurangabad said that rain at this stage is particularly harmful for the wheat crop. There were also reports of hailstorms in some parts of the district.

Daljit Singh of Dialpura village said the weather conditions are likely to affect overall yield.
