In a statement on Saturday, the SP said police also sealed and cleared 853 locations where public drinking was taking place. In a drive against gambling, police registered 46 cases and detained 239 persons involved in cockfights, card games and matka. They seized Rs 1243870 in cash, 5 roosters, 37 motorcycles, and 48 mobile phones.

He said police registered 1,1127 e-challan cases under the Motor Vehicles Act and produced 396 drunk-driving offenders before the courts, which imposed fines totalling Rs 12,62,000. Three cases were registered against ganja smuggling, and 11 persons were arrested with 8.890 kg of ganja. Police also counselled 922 rowdy sheeters across both districts and warned them of legal action if they continued antisocial activities, the SP added.
