Bengaluru: The Department of School Education and Literacy Karnataka has announced the academic calendar for the 2026-27 school year for government, aided, and unaided primary and secondary schools following the state syllabus..
As per the schedule, the new academic year will commence on May 29, 2026. A total of 245 working days have been fixed, with 119 days designated as holidays during the year.
The Dasara holidays will be observed from October 3 to October 21, 2026, while the summer vacation will begin on April 11, 2027. The first term will run from May 29 to October 2, and the second term will be held from October 22, 2026, to April 10, 2027.
The department has instructed schools to complete student admissions by June 30 and to conduct special enrollment drives to bring back out-of-school children between the ages of 6 and 18. It has also directed that uniforms and textbooks be distributed by the first week of June 2027.
Out of the total academic days, 181 days have been allocated for teaching and learning, while time has also been set aside for examinations, co-curricular activities, evaluation, and local holidays.
The department stated that the calendar is designed to ensure uniform implementation of academic activities across all state syllabus schools and has directed officials to strictly adhere to the schedule.
