Andhra-Telangana students sweep top ranks in IIT Madras zone

Hyderabad: The JEE (Advanced) 2026 results, declared on Monday, once again showcased and highlighted the academic strength of Telugu students, who secured leading positions in the IIT Madras zone-one of the most competitive regions in the country.

The standout performers this year include Korukonda Sravya, who emerged as the top female candidate in the zone, and Mohit Shekher Shukla from Telangana, who secured a prestigious 4th rank nationally in the Common Rank List (CRL).

Mohit, with an impressive score of 319, led the zone's male candidates and stood among the top achievers nationwide. He was closely followed by Kuchi Sandeep, who secured fifth rank with 318 marks, and Medisetti Naga Saharsha, who achieved ninth rank with 312 marks. Another strong performer, Veldurthi Harshith, secured the 15th rank, further strengthening the Telugu presence at the top.

In a remarkable feat, four of the top five candidates under the IIT Madras zone hail from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This dominance reflects the region's long-standing culture of rigorous preparation, strong academic ecosystems, and competitive spirit that consistently produce top-tier engineering aspirants.

In the female category, Korukonda Sravya delivered an exceptional performance, securing Rank 111 and becoming the top female candidate in the IIT Madras zone. Her achievement highlights the rising participation and success of young women from the Telugu states in premier engineering entrance examinations. From the IIT Bhubaneswar zone, Reddi Sai Sahithi also made her mark by securing Rank 230, adding to the list of Telugu female achievers.

The category-wise results further showcased the region's diversity and depth of talent. B Jayakrishna Srinivas, representing the IIT Bombay zone, secured GEN-EWS Rank 1 and also featured in the CRL with an impressive 6th rank and 314 marks. Meanwhile, Nanala Naga Chaitanya from the IIT Madras zone topped the OBC-NCL-PwD category.

Zone-wise toppers included Jayakrishna Srinivas for IIT Bombay and Allu Rohith (Rank 102) for IIT Bhubaneswar. However, the IIT Madras zone stood out, with Telugu candidates dominating the top ranks and reinforcing their academic excellence on a national stage.
