Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board (APSBB) has charted an ambitious roadmap to strengthen biodiversity conservation, expand green infrastructure, and enhance community participation across the state.

The decisions were taken at the Board meeting held in Vijayawada on Wednesday under the chairmanship of APSBB Chairman Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar and Member Secretary P Ramakrishna.

Senior officials representing key departments, including Environment, Forests, Municipal Administration, Agriculture, Panchayat Raj, Tribal Welfare, and Animal Husbandry, participated in the review and finalised a comprehensive action plan for the coming months.

A major highlight of the meeting was the progress of the Kadapa Biodiversity Park, whose first phase is nearing completion and is expected to be inaugurated by Forest Minister Pavan Kalyan in September 2026. The Board also approved plans to establish new biodiversity parks in Mangalagiri and Tirupati in collaboration with the Forest Department. To enhance urban greenery, a pilot project for developing micro-forests at major traffic junctions in towns and cities will be launched, along with mini biodiversity parks within existing Nagara Vanams.
