AP NIT signs MoU with IIT-Tirupati

Tadepalligudem: National Institute of Technology AP (NIT AP- Tadepalligudem) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology-Tirupati to promote academic collaboration and research opportunities for students and faculty members.

The MoU was signed during a programme held at IIT-Tirupati. NIT-AP in-charge Director Prof NV Ramana Rao and IIT-Tirupati Director Prof KN Satyanarayana exchanged the agreement documents, NIT-AP Dean (Academic) Prof N Jayaram said in a statement.

Under the agreement, final-year B Tech students of NIT-AP will be eligible for direct admission into the integrated PhD programme at IIT-Tirupati. Students securing a minimum CGPA of 8 by the end of the third year of B Tech will be eligible for the programme.

Prof Jayaram said the arrangement would enable students to enter the field of research directly without appearing for the GATE examination or pursuing an M.Tech course.

He added that students admitted to the Integrated PhD programme could complete their research and obtain a doctoral degree within four years.
