Khammam: Tribal and forest produce from the agency areas of Bhadradri Kothagudem district will soon reach consumers across the country through online sales, with the Bhadra Giri Mart in Bhadrachalam expanding its digital presence.
The initiative aims to provide better returns to tribal producers while creating wider markets for their products. It is also being linked to tourism to promote organic, forest-based and traditional tribal products among visitors.
Established at a cost of Rs 15 lakh, the mart was inaugurated by the Governor on March 27 during Sri Rama Navami. It offers millet biscuits, mahua flower laddus and burfis, tea powder, haritaki, honey, soaps, shampoos, shikakai, organic millets, pulses, rice and other forest produce. Millet biscuits prepared by tribal women are witnessing growing demand, officials said. Bhadrachalam ITDA Project Officer B. Rahul said around 100 tribal families were benefiting from the mart, while another 10 families were getting direct employment.
Online ordering and home delivery will enable visitors and consumers living far away to purchase the products even after returning home.
