Speaking to the media after visiting the proposed project site in Kothur mandal along with local residents, Vishnuvardhan Reddy stated that the decision to allot 86 acres of land for the solid waste management plant was initiated earlier and was not a recent development. According to him, the land was handed over to GHMC through an Advance Possession Certificate on February 11, 2026, while the Government Order issued recently was a rectification order.

He urged the MLA to clarify whether the earlier government proceedings were known and said local residents deserved complete information about the project. He also called for greater transparency in matters concerning the proposed facility and sought an explanation regarding the sequence of government decisions. Vishnuvardhan Reddy said the proposal was linked to the Eco Town project and referred to official correspondence initiated in August 2025 for the transfer of land in Survey Nos. 252, 258 and 361 at Siddapur for the proposed solid waste management facility.

He maintained that 86 acres were subsequently handed over through an Advance Possession Certificate in February 2026.

Stating that local residents were concerned about the proposed project, the BJP leader said the party would continue to support their cause through democratic means.

He added that, if necessary, he was prepared to undertake an indefinite hunger strike and appealed to the government to address the concerns of the affected villages at the earliest.
