Actress Neeta Mohindra, who recently received appreciation for her role in 'Border 2' as Diljit Dosanjh's mother, and is also known for her work in 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story', 'State of Siege: Temple Attack', and 'Sapne Vs Everyone', opens up about her journey in Mumbai, the challenges of finding her footing in Bollywood, and the projects she is looking forward to.
Speaking about her move to Mumbai, she said, "I came to Mumbai in 2015 after having done 15 Punjabi films, 3 Hindi films, and 35 years of theatre. The field and craft I knew, but the ground was new - Bollywood was new, Mumbai was new. I knew nobody except a few casting directors. Luckily, within less than two months, I got signed for 'M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story' as Dhoni's mother. The film became a super hit, people started recognising me, and I have been working regularly since then. Getting 'Border 2' was another stroke of luck."
Sharing the toughest part of her journey, she said, "The toughest part of my Mumbai journey was navigating the industry - while waiting for calls, auditioning, and even on sets.
There is such a strict hierarchy on sets, and it's easy for an outsider to fumble or lose confidence completely. Nobody teaches these things, and no book can prepare you for it. It's a solo journey, different for each individual."
Lastly, speaking about her upcoming projects and what audiences can expect from her, she said, "My upcoming projects include the second season of 'Sapne Vs Everyone', which is about to be released. In June, my film 'Dastaar' will be releasing. The release dates of my other projects are yet to be confirmed. Reels based on some of my characters - Dhoni's mother, my role in 'Sapne Vs Everyone', and now 'Border 2' - are circulating widely."
