Nellore: Following the panic created over shortage of petrol and diesel, district Collector Himanshu Shukla conducted a surprise inspection at Jaya petrol bunk in Ramannapalem of Kodavalur mandal on Monday.

He enquired bunk owner Suman about stock position, who informed that sufficient fuel is available. He added that temporary pressure mounts up due to panic buying.

Later addressing the media, the Collector clarified that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel in the district and that all fuel stations have adequate stocks. He urged public not to believe misinformation circulating on social media and advised against panic buying. Fuel supplies to the district are being continuously maintained from Kadapa, Chittoor, and Krishnapatnam Port regions, he added and stressed that the current situation is purely temporary and caused by excessive demand, not due to any actual shortage.

According to official data, the district has 243 petrol bunks with sufficient stock. Authorities, including the SP and Joint Collector, are continuously supervising fuel availability across all outlets.

Collector Shukla informed that the district has 271 diesel outlets, of which around 40 are experiencing relatively low stock levels.
