Visakhapatnam: Director General of Police (DGP), Andhra Pradesh, Harish Kumar Gupta visited the Greyhounds Campus on Saturday and congratulated the Andhra Pradesh Police Commando Team for their outstanding achievement in winning four prestigious trophies at the 16th All India Police Commando Competition (AIPCC).
The prestigious competition was conducted at the National Security Guard (NSG) Training Centre, Manesar, Haryana, where elite commando teams from 15 State Police Forces and 9 Central Armed Police Forces participated. Displaying exceptional courage, endurance, tactical expertise, and operational excellence, the Andhra Pradesh Police Commando Team emerged as one of the top-performing teams in the country.
The Andhra Pradesh team secured Best State Police Commando Team Trophy, Hardliner Trophy, Black Hawk Trophy and Rann-Neeti Trophy.
The DGP stated that this remarkable accomplishment reflects the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, advanced training, and combat readiness maintained by the elite Greyhounds and Octopus Commando units of Andhra Pradesh Police.
He appreciated the extraordinary dedication and performance of the AP Police Commando Team and felicitated the participating commandos by presenting the DGP Commendation Disc and Certificates - 2026, along with cash rewards, in recognition of their exemplary service and achievement at the national level.
The DGP also appreciated IGP (Operations), Ch. Srikanth, and other officers of Greyhounds and Octopus for their dedicated leadership and guidance in achieving this national glory.
Later, the DGP launched an official website of Visakhapatnam city police. Speaking on the occasion, the DGP mentioned that Visakhapatnam is emerging as a knowledge hub. "It is highly commendable to note that the website has been designed by compiling all the services provided by the city police on to a platform. Steps will be considered to implement similar website in other districts," the DGP stated.
Underlining that cybercrime is on the rise, the DGP exercised caution to be more vigilant towards such crimes as criminals are cheating the people through various forms, he informed, adding that grievances related to cybercrimes are being received 24/7 by the department.
City Police Commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi said, "The new website aims to bring policing closer to people as they can avail all the services through the platform." He elaborated about various services offered through the website.
Merit certificates were distributed to the police personnel who excelled in cracking various cases.
