The social service initiatives undertaken by the Dr B.N. Rao Foundation over the past decade have made a significant contribution to society and deserve lasting recognition, Karimnagar City Congress president Vydhula Anjan Kumar said on Wednesday.

Addressing a seminar organised to mark the Foundation's 10th anniversary at Film Bhavan in Karimnagar, Anjan Kumar lauded Dr B.N. Rao for successfully balancing his medical profession with a strong commitment to public welfare. He said Dr Rao's dedication to serving people had earned widespread respect and appreciation. He also remarked that if Dr Rao entered active politics, he could serve society on an even larger scale.

Former TRS district president G.V. Ramakrishna Rao and former Choppadandi ZPTC member Sambaiah also praised Dr Rao's commitment to social causes. They highlighted the Foundation's various welfare programmes, including free health camps, distribution of books to students, skill-development initiatives for youth and tailoring training for women to encourage self-employment.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rao called upon youngsters to participate actively in politics and contribute to nation-building. He said the Foundation had conducted anaemia screening for nearly 40,000 government school students, while around 7,000 identified with the condition were provided treatment and medicines.

He urged governments to create more employment opportunities and advocated free education and healthcare, expressing concern over rising unemployment among educated youth.
