Fake Doctor Arrested In Lucknow KGMU Conversion Racket, Targeted Medical Students

A man allegedly posing as a resident doctor at King George's Medical University in Lucknow has been arrested for targeting female medical students in what police describe as a fraudulent conversion racket.

The accused, Hassam Ahmad, reportedly approached students not only within KGMU but also from other institutions, allegedly focusing on Hindu women. In one case, he is said to have issued fake documents under the pretext of taking students to a conference at All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

Police said he also set up an organisation named "Cardio Seva Sansthan Trust," which was allegedly used to organise camps in certain areas as part of his activities. Authorities further claimed that he collected money from patients while impersonating a medical professional. He has been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.

The matter came to light amid a separate controversy at KGMU involving a resident doctor, Rameez Uddin Nayak, who has been accused of exploiting a colleague under the promise of marriage and pressuring her to convert. An internal inquiry committee, led by a senior official, is currently examining the allegations.

According to police, the complainant in that case alleged that the accused misrepresented his marital status and coerced her into religious conversion before taking her to Pilibhit for marriage. Investigators have since arrested multiple individuals, including family members and others believed to have facilitated the process.

Authorities also noted that gatherings and speeches were allegedly organised within hostel premises in connection with the activities under investigation.

The case has raised serious concerns over security, identity verification, and student safety within educational institutions, especially as it marks the second such incident reported from the same university in recent months.
