Anakapalli: To strengthen direct marketing opportunities for farmers and ensure availability of quality agricultural produce to consumers, a new Rythu Bazaar was inaugurated at the NTR Market Yard in Anakapalli on Tuesday.
District collector Vijaya Krishnan inaugurated the newly- constructed facility in the presence of district joint collector Saurya Man Patel and constituency MLA Konathala Rama Krishna. Highlighting the benefits of the Rythu Bazaar, the collector stated that it was developed with modern infrastructure at a cost of Rs. 15 lakh under the supervision of the agricultural marketing department.
The collector said that the initiative is aimed to provide better market access to farmers, eliminate middlemen, ensure a minimum support price for farmers, and make fresh, quality vegetables available to consumers at affordable rates.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Konathala Rama Krishna mentioned that the market has dedicated stalls for farmers, drinking water facilities, sanitation arrangements, consumer rest areas and transport facilities to enable farmers to sell their produce directly to the public. He expressed confidence that the new facility would greatly benefit local farmers by helping them secure profits following their immense hard work and investment in agricultural activities. Further, he highlighted that consumers would benefit through access to quality vegetables at lower prices.
Anakapalli Agricultural Market Committee president P Ramu, vice president Karri Venkata Satyanarayana, secretary D. Shakuntala, members of the governing body, farmers, traders, consumers and members of the public were present during the inauguration of the Rythu Bazaar.
