Visakhapatnam: Districtin-charge Minister Dola Sree Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy, Member of Parliament for Visakhapatnam M Sribharat and MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao inspected the site at Tarluvada where the foundation stone for the Google Cloud India AI Hub Data Center is scheduled to be laid.
After reviewing the arrangements, the MP expressed satisfaction with the preparations made for the prestigious project.
Speaking on the occasion, Sribharat stated that just a year ago, it was difficult to believe such a massive Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) would come to the state. He highlighted that an investment of approximately Rs.1.40 lakh crore by a single company in Visakhapatnam marks one of the largest investments in India's history.
Attributing credit to the efforts taken by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh for their proactive initiatives in bringing the project to the state, the MP also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for facilitating the necessary conditions sought by Google, with support from Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The MP noted that during the short term, the construction phase of the data centre will generate substantial employment opportunities in the construction sector. While direct employment in the operational phase may be relatively limited, he emphasised that the project will catalyse the development of a robust IT and AI ecosystem in the region.
He further explained that the presence of a data centre will ensure high-speed internet infrastructure, which is already attracting interest from banks, fintech firms and IT companies seeking land near the facility.
The government is actively evaluating and approving such investments in a phased manner.
Visakhapatnam In-Charge Minister mentioned that the NDA government is drawing major investments to the state.
