Govt stands by poor families for their daughters' marriages: Seethakka

Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Danasari Anasuya Seethakka said that the people's government is extending support for the marriages of girls from poor and that women should utilise the interest-free loans provided by the government to achieve economic progress.

Seethakka attended as the chief guest at the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheque distribution programme held at the Rythu Vedika in Mangapet mandal headquarters. She distributed cheques to 29 beneficiaries from various villages of the mandal.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the state government is effectively implementing the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes to provide financial support to girls' marriages in poor and middle-class families.

She stated that the people's government is standing by families to reduce the financial burden during daughters' marriages. She stressed the need to completely prevent child marriages and advised that marriages should be conducted only after attaining the legal age. She urged everyone to cooperate in eradicating child marriages and to prioritise girls' education.

The Minister stated that Indiramma houses would be sanctioned in the second phase for all eligible beneficiaries. She said that providing transparent services to the people is the government's primary objective.

With the firm resolve of making one crore women financially empowered, she urged women's self-help groups to make effective use of the interest-free loans being provided under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme and achieve economic advancement.

District Library Organisation Chairman Bhanoth Ravichander, Agricultural Market Committee Chairperson Rega Kalyani, Mangapet Tahsildar Thota Ravinder, local public representatives, concerned officials and beneficiaries participated in the programme.
