HCA must answer questions on TG20 League, says TCA

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cricket Association (TCA) levelled a series of allegations against the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), questioning the legality, governance and transparency of the recently conducted TG20 League.

In a statement, TCA said HCA should address concerns raised by stakeholders instead of celebrating the tournament.

The association claimed the league was organised despite pending proceedings before the Bombay High Court and alleged that HCA failed to comply with the BCCI's July 11, 2021 directive to consult and collaborate with TCA for cricket activities outside Hyderabad city. It also alleged violations of HCA's own governance rules.

TCA further accused HCA of discriminating against district cricketers by overlooking many registered players despite franchises representing Telangana districts. It said district representation in playing XIs was minimal, undermining the league's stated objective of promoting cricket across the state. The association also sought an independent inquiry into complaints alleging irregularities in player selection, including claims of monetary considerations by certain team officials. It questioned the league's financial transparency, citing reported losses of around ₹15 crore and demanding an independent audit.

TCA said cricket in Telangana should benefit aspiring players across all districts and called for accountability if any violations are established by competent authorities.
