The Telangana Government expedited the official process for the proposed high speed rail corridors and bullet trains connecting Hyderabad to Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Amaravati.
DPRs are being prepared jointly by the state government and Railway Ministry and the State government will also speed up the land acquisition.
Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao directed the officials to prepare proposals by involving all departments with mutual coordination. He advised officials to take appropriate measures regarding land acquisition, connectivity, infrastructure development, and other aspects related to the project.
The Chief Secretary noted that the high-speed rail project, which connects Hyderabad to major cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru, has the potential to transform Telangana into an "Economic Growth Corridor" under the "Telangana Rising 2047" vision.
Ramakrishna Rao further stated that the high-speed rail project would serve as a cornerstone for a rapid transportation system within the country, benefiting the future needs of the public as well as fostering development in the industrial, IT, and tourism sectors.
Railway officials informed the meeting that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Hyderabad-Pune-Mumbai high-speed rail route has been completed. They stated that proposals have been prepared for a route spanning approximately 671 kilometres, of which 93 kilometres lie within the state of Telangana.
Officials stated that land acquisition would be required for specific stretches, and similarly, land acquisition is necessary along an approximate length of 123 kilometres within the Hyderabad-Bengaluru and Hyderabad-Chennai corridors.
They further noted that land acquisition would be needed in the Kokapet and Shamshabad areas for the establishment of railway depots.
The Chief Secretary directed officials from the Roads and Buildings Department, the HMDA and GMR Airport to coordinate with the Central Railway Project officials and extend their full cooperation toward the High-Speed Rail Project.
