Tirupati: The Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati is set to organise a high-level roundtable discussion on April 17 and 18 to chart the future of space education in India.
The event is being supported by Mehta Family Foundation and will bring together experts from academia, industry, government laboratories and startup sector.
The two-day programme aims to develop academic and structural framework for a proposed School of Space Science and Engineering at the institute. The initiative is seen as an important step towards connecting theoretical research with real-world applications in the rapidly growing space sector.
Officials said the roundtable will act as a key consultation platform to shape the vision of the proposed school and help nurture the next generation of space scientists and engineers. The first day will feature a series of panel discussions, with separate sessions focusing on government laboratories, industry, academia and startups. These panels will deliberate on critical aspects such as curriculum design, workforce requirements, emerging skill gaps and long-term vision for space education.
The discussions will include participation from experts associated with Indian Space Research Organisation, as well as representatives from Defence Space Agency, which works under Tri-Services. Faculty members from leading institutions across the country and leaders from aerospace companies are also expected to take part.
