Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy participated in Bakrid celebrations and offered special prayers at the Eidgah located on Munugode Road in Nalgonda town on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Minister extended heartfelt Bakrid greetings to all the people of Nalgonda district, especially to Muslims of the region.
He described Bakrid as a sacred festival that reflects deep faith in Allah and symbolises the spirit of sacrifice. Remembering the great sacrifice of Prophet Hazrat Ibrahim, the Minister said that Bakrid is not merely a religious celebration but also carries a powerful message for humanity.
True devotion, he said, lies in being willing to sacrifice even one's most beloved possessions for God and for the welfare of society. The minister stated that the essence of Bakrid is sacrifice, charity, and compassion toward the poor and needy. He emphasized that the festival teaches people to give up selfishness and ego and work for the welfare of society. Referring to Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, he said the march conveyed a message of unity, equality, and harmony among people of all religions and communities.
He also recalled that during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Muslims were provided 4 percent reservations, which helped improve educational and employment opportunities. According to him, this reflects the secular values of the Congress party. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said Telangana, particularly Nalgonda, stands as a symbol of communal harmony and the Ganga-Jamuni culture, where Hindus and Muslims celebrate all festivals together in peace. He noted that for the past 30 years, the district has remained free from communal disturbances, which he described as the unique identity of Nalgonda.
The minister further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the government is committed to the welfare of Muslim minorities. He said the government is building modern schools, organizing job fairs, and working toward better educational and employment opportunities for minorities. Responding to a request for a Shadi Khana, he assured that land allocation had already been initiated and promised that the project would be completed soon.
