Endowments Minister Konda Surekha's grandson Konda Shreyansh Murali Krishna Patel, at the remarkable age of 2 years and 11 months, has become the youngest boy in the world to achieve a world record in chess. Shreyansh secured a place in the World Book of Records (London) by setting two extraordinary records at an event organised under the aegis of the Roy Chess Academy.
Shreyansh solved 93 "back-rank checkmates" in just 15 minutes and 52 seconds and arranged 21 chess boards in 1 hour, 9 minutes, and 9 seconds, demonstrating exceptional focus and skill at an extraordinarily young age.
A celebratory event was held at the MLAs and MPs Colony Cultural Center in Jubilee Hills, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister for Sports Vakiti Srihari, and Minister for Forests and Endowments Konda Surekha as chief guests. Sports Minister Srihari praised Shreyansh, calling him a "beloved son of Mother India" and a "reincarnation of Swami Vivekananda," commending his intellect and sportsmanship. Minister Surekha, visibly emotional, expressed immense pride, while Shreyansh's mother, Konda Susmitha Patel, affirmed her commitment to supporting her son's future endeavours. The event, conducted under the supervision of Rai Chess Academy founder Rajasekhar Reddy and judged by National Arbiter Ujwal Chauhan, highlighted Shreyansh's extraordinary talent and potential.
Rajasekhar Reddy lauded Shreyansh as an inspiration for children nationwide, emphasising that such achievements showcase how early guidance can unlock the immense potential of young minds. On behalf of the Rai Chess Academy, Sports Minister Srihari and Minister Surekha presented trophies and certificates to Shreyansh amid widespread applause.
Shreyansh Krishna Patel is scheduled to receive further recognition at the British Parliament in June, when he will be formally honoured by the World Book of Records (London). This achievement has not only brought pride to his family but also positioned Telangana prominently on the global stage for nurturing young talent in intellectual sports like chess.
