The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has been honoured with the prestigious World HRD Congress Award 2026 under the category "Best in Training and Organisation Development", recognising its outstanding initiatives in employee training and capacity building.

KSRTC earned the accolade for implementing a wide range of structured training programmes across its five training centres. These include modules on fuel efficiency, accident-free driving, road safety, refresher courses, and advanced simulator-based training aimed at enhancing driver performance and operational safety.

As part of social inclusion initiatives, KSRTC has also been actively involved in skill development programmes. Under the PM Ajay Scheme, heavy vehicle driving training along with free driving licences is provided to Scheduled Caste candidates in collaboration with the Transport Department. Additionally, in association with the Directorate of Minorities, both light and heavy vehicle driving training programmes are conducted for candidates from minority communities, also offering free licences.

The corporation extends training beyond its workforce by offering driving programmes to private candidates. Newly recruited driver-cum-conductors, technical staff, constables, and junior assistants undergo induction training focused on their roles and responsibilities. Specialised sessions are also conducted for supervisory staff, while driving instructors are deployed across units to train personnel. Administrative staff benefit from regular refresher courses and other capacity-building initiatives.

In the last six months alone, over 12,000 staff members have undergone training, significantly contributing to organisational efficiency and development-key factors behind KSRTC's recognition at the global platform.

At a ceremony held in Cochin, Captain S. T. Sreedharan, Director of the College of Ship Technology, presented the award. Dr. Latha T. S., Board Secretary and Chief Public Relations Officer, along with AS Geethanjali, Principal of the Regional Training Institute, Hassan, received the award on behalf of KSRTC.
