Visakhapatnam: In a step to provide an opportunity to taxpayers, the state government announced a 50 per cent waiver on accumulated interest for property tax arrears and the scheme has now been extended to allow taxpayers to pay their dues in lump sum on or before April 30. Further, the government has also issued orders granting a 5 per cent rebate to those who pay property tax and vacant land tax for the financial year 2026-27 on or before April 30.
Commissioner of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Ketan Garg exhorted the property taxpayers and house owners within GVMC limits to use the opportunity provided by the state government and clear the arrears. Explaining further, the Commissioner stated that earlier, the government of Andhra Pradesh had issued orders granting a 50 per cent waiver on interest for those who cleared property tax arrears in a lump sum on or before March 31. For the benefit of those who could not avail this facility, the government has now extended the deadline up to April 30, he informed.
Therefore, he appealed to property tax defaulters to utilise this extended opportunity and clear their dues toward property tax and vacant land tax payable to GVMC on or before April 30 to avail the 50 percent interest waiver benefit. Further, as per Section 264 (3) of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporations Act, 1955, the Government has also provided a 5 percent rebate for the current financial year 2026-27 to those who pay their property tax and vacant land tax on or before April 30. Hence, all house owners and property taxpayers are requested to utilise these benefits, clear pending dues with immediate effect, avail the 50 percent interest waiver plus 5 percent rebate on current year taxes and contribute to the city's development.
Property tax can be paid at GVMC Saukaryam Centres through cash/DD/cheque/debit/credit cards, or online through the GVMC web portal: gvmc.gov.in.
