Lungs from Bengaluru Reaches Hyderabad for Transplant

The Hans India 0 months ago

Bengaluru/Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police activated a dedicated green corridor to transport a pair of donor lungs airlifted from Bengaluru to KIMS Hospitals in Secunderabad.

The operation underscores the critical role of rapid inter-city organ logistics and traffic management in successful transplant outcomes, where every minute counts for organ viability.

The lungs, retrieved from a donor in Bengaluru, landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad around 2:20 PM. Police immediately cleared a priority route for the ambulance bearing registration TG09U0642 to race approximately 35 kilometers to KIMS Hospitals on Minister Road, Secunderabad. Traffic personnel from Hyderabad and Cyberabad divisions worked in tandem to halt regular vehicle movement at key junctions, creating a seamless pathway under the airport flyover and along major arteries.

Videos circulating on social media captured the scene. A Red Health and KIMS-affiliated ambulance was prepared at the exit, and officers manually managed traffic to keep the corridor open. Authorities issued public appeals urging citizens to cooperate by yielding space and avoiding the designated route, emphasising that such gestures directly contribute to saving lives.

This incident reflects Hyderabad's established protocol for time-sensitive organ transport.
