Shivamogga: A deadly assault linked to a love affair has shaken Shivamogga's Wadi-E-Huda layout. A 17-year-old youth was brutally attacked with a machete on Friday night, with the weapon getting deeply lodged in his skull.
Doctors performed an emergency procedure to remove the machete, but the victim continues to battle for his life. The main accused, Sohail, was reportedly engaged to a girl. When he learned that the 17-year-old victim was in contact with the same girl, Sohail allegedly planned the attack. He and five accomplices waited near the victim's house.
As soon as the youth appeared, they launched a sudden assault using deadly weapons. The attackers fled the spot after leaving the machete embedded in the victim's head. Tunganagar police have registered a murder case and begun investigations. Some suspects have already been taken into custody, while efforts are on to trace the remaining absconding accused.
