Huzurnagar: A major fraud involving digital payments has come to light in Huzurnagar town of Suryapet district, where a man allegedly duped people using a fake PhonePe application.
According to reports, the accused, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had been targeting small traders across the erstwhile Nalgonda district by using a counterfeit PhonePe app to carry out fraudulent transactions. The scam had reportedly been ongoing for quite some time.
The accused was caught red-handed near Gandhi Park Center in Huzurnagar while attempting to exchange money using the fake application. Suspicious of his activities, local residents apprehended him and confronted him before handing him over to the police.
Police have taken the accused into custody and are currently interrogating him. Preliminary investigations indicate that he may have cheated several small business owners in the region
