Guntur: Modernised Mangalagiri railway station in Guntur Division will be dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a virtual inauguration on July 17. As part of the Government of India's transformative Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the railway station was redeveloped for the convenience of passengers.
Mangalagiri railway station has been redeveloped at a cost of Rs 12.56 crore with state-of-the-art passenger amenities and modern infrastructure. Comprehensive renovation of the existing station building, construction of a modern second entry station building with booking office, waiting halls and VIP lounge, aesthetically enhanced station façade, spacious entrance porch, upgraded waiting halls, modern toilets, improved platform surfacing, durable seating arrangements made for the convenience of passengers.
The station has been equipped with two lifts, Divyangjan-friendly amenities including tactile pathways, ramps and accessible toilets. New platform shelters have been provided on Platforms 1 and 4, while circulating areas on both front and rear sides have been comprehensively developed with dedicated parking spaces, pedestrian pathways, street lighting, lane markings and landscaped surroundings.
Access control measures, including boundary walls and wide entry/exit gates, have also been completed to facilitate smooth passenger movement.
The redeveloped station showcases improved passenger convenience through enhanced interiors, retiring rooms, modern booking facilities and artistic elements reflecting local culture, making Mangalagiri railway station a landmark transport hub in the region.
