Hyderabad: As part of the 99-day public administration progress plan under the auspices of Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation, the critical activities of curbing and restoring encroachments on drains continued on Wednesday.

As a key part of this initiative, a special awareness programme on the conservation of drains was successfully organised across the city in active collaboration with the SHG engineering team.

During this programme, civic officials and SHG engineering staff met with local residents to explain the ultimate importance of drains, the need for their consistent maintenance for proper drainage during the rainy season, and the severe public problems caused directly by illegal encroachments.

They advised people to maintain cleanliness by not throwing household garbage around drains and to cooperate in avoiding future encroachments. Officials stated that public participation is very important in the development of the city. The government's goal is to reduce flood risks through drain restoration and provide a better environment.
