Vijayawada: Chief Minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu delivered a stern message to party leaders, emphasising discipline, performance, and accountability while cautioning against arrogance and internal conflicts.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the TDP executive committee at the party's central office in Mangalagiri on Wednesday, the Chief Minister made it clear that positions and recognition within the party would be based strictly on performance rather than influence or seniority.
Rejecting the notion that appointments require the approval of certain leaders, Chandrababu asserted that such "outdated mindsets" have no place in the party. "Recognition will be given only to those who work effectively. No one's permission is required," he said, urging leaders to strengthen their constituencies if they wish to enhance their stature.
In a candid address, he warned against entitlement among senior leaders.
"If it is only about personal courtesy, I can invite you home for coffee. But within the party, recognition is reserved for those who contribute," he remarked, underlining that competence, loyalty and service to the state would be the only criteria for leadership support.
Naidu also cautioned leaders against arrogance and misconduct, stating that such behaviour could harm both individuals and the party.
He stressed the need to maintain discipline, avoid petty disputes over issues like flex banners and protocol, and ensure respectful conduct towards the public.
Highlighting the importance of collective responsibility, he said leaders must not only maintain proper conduct but also guide their followers accordingly, noting that public representatives are under constant scrutiny.
Referring to the 2024 elections, Chandrababu said the people voted with a vision to rebuild the state, placing trust in the NDA leadership. He urged party workers to build on that trust and aim for an even higher vote share in the upcoming elections through dedicated work and good governance.
He warned that complacency could cost the party dearly. "Power should not lead to arrogance. If leaders fail in conduct, the party will suffer," he said.
The CM called for unity among NDA allies and directed leaders to avoid internal conflicts.
He also emphasized the importance of the upcoming local body elections, urging the cadre to highlight development initiatives and work cohesively for better results.
Taking a swipe at the opposition YSR Congress Party, Chandrababu alleged that attempts were being made to obstruct investments and mislead the public.
However, he asserted that the government remains focused on development and attracting industries to the State.
Reiterating the party's core principle, he said, "The party worker is the true leader," and called for renewed energy and commitment within the organization.
