Surathkal: National Institute of Technology Karnataka has initiated piped natural gas (PNG) supply at the Brahmagiri Hostel mess in collaboration with GAIL Gas Limited, marking a step towards cleaner campus infrastructure.
The facility was inaugurated on April 27 in the presence of NITK Director Prof. B. Ravi and other officials from the institute and GAIL Gas Limited, along with representatives of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).
Officials said PNG has already been extended to residential quarters on campus, ensuring an uninterrupted and cleaner fuel supply. The Brahmagiri Hostel mess is the first among campus establishments to shift from LPG to PNG.
The campus has around 20 commercial units, including messes and canteens, and plans are in place to extend PNG supply to all such facilities in a phased manner.
