Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to announce a ten-year extension of the Centre's main regional air connectivity scheme during his visit to Jodhpur on Saturday.
Sources claim that the program, which was introduced in 2016, will be extended until 2037, with the Centre setting aside a sizeable amount of money to keep offering subsidies meant to improve regional air connections and maintain the affordability of air travel.
The Prime Minister is expected to speak with UDAN operators from all over the nation during the opening of the new terminal building at the Jodhpur airport, where the announcement will be made.
The expansion is anticipated to accelerate the development of regional aviation infrastructure while giving airlines and airport operators long-term policy certainty.
The UDAN program was introduced in 2016 with the goal of lowering airfares on regional flights and providing airlines with viability gap assistance.
