Vijayawada: NTR district Collector Dr G Lakshmisha has called upon all recognised political parties to extend full cooperation to the district administration for the successful conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, being undertaken in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).

The Collector made the appeal while chairing a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties at the Collectorate in Vijayawada on Wednesday. He explained the action plan prepared for the revision of voter lists in the district. Addressing the meeting, Dr Lakshmisha said training programmes for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLO Supervisors would be conducted from June 5 to 14. Enumeration forms would be distributed and voter information would be collected between June 15 and July 14 as part of the revision exercise.

The draft electoral roll would be published on July 21, and claims and objections from voters would be accepted until August 20. After scrutinising and resolving all claims and objections, the final electoral roll would be published on September 22, he said.

The Collector stressed that the objective of the exercise is to prepare a healthy, accurate and error-free voter list. He urged political parties to appoint their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and actively participate in the revision process.

Dr Lakshmisha also informed the meeting that the district currently has 1,792 polling stations and proposals have been submitted for the establishment of 129 additional polling booths.
