Dharwad: A protest by BJP, RSS and Hindu organisations against actor Prakash Raj during his visit to an event at the Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha premises in Dharwad on Sunday led to tension.
Prakash Raj had arrived to participate in a discussion organised as part of the 'Manushyatvadedege Samudayada Jatha' programme. Protesters raised slogans demanding that the actor leave the venue, alleging that he had made derogatory remarks about Hinduism.
Some protesters allegedly attempted to enter the auditorium and approach the stage. Tension escalated after members of the organising community group raised counter-slogans against the RSS.
Police intervened and detained some protesters as a precautionary measure to prevent the situation from escalating. They also held discussions with the organisers and worked to restore normalcy.
Despite the protests, Prakash Raj participated in the programme. Reacting to the demonstrations, he said, "May God give good sense to those who are protesting."
