Karimnagar: In a major breakthrough in the sensational robbery case at PMJ Jewellery in Karimnagar, the prime accused and mastermind, Subodh Singh, has been taken into custody by the Karimnagar police from Purnia jail in Bihar on a PT warrant, Police Commissioner Gaush Alam said on Friday.

The accused, who was involved in multiple cases across different jurisdictions, was brought to Karimnagar after police obtained transit warrants from six courts in Bihar where cases against him are pending. The Commissioner stated that all necessary legal procedures were followed before securing his custody.

Subodh Singh, along with a special police team, arrived in Karimnagar late on Thursday night. He was produced before the duty magistrate past midnight, following which the court remanded him to judicial custody and he was shifted to jail.

To facilitate detailed interrogation and uncover further links in the case, the police have filed a petition in the Karimnagar court seeking custody of the accused for a period of one week. The Commissioner noted that further investigation is underway and more crucial details related to the case are expected to emerge soon.

It may be recalled that on May 3, unidentified assailants opened fire on employees at PMJ Jewellery in Karimnagar town before carrying out the robbery, creating widespread panic and drawing significant public attention.
