Visakhapatnam: The house listing process being undertaken across all zones as part of 'Census-2027' under the jurisdiction of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is progressing at a brisk pace, informed GVMC Additional Commissioner and City Census Officer D.V. Ramanamurthy.
Following the instructions of GVMC Commissioner and Principal Census Officer Ketan Garg, Ramanamurthy informed that Census officials have been conducting door-to-door enumeration. "As on May 26, a total of 9,13,600 houses has been covered under the house listing process. As many as 1,47,528 houses were found vacant and another 37,358 houses were identified as locked within the city limits," he mentioned.
Underlining that the Census is considered highly significant national exercise, the Additional Commissioner emphasised that it plays a crucial part in policy planning, formulation of welfare schemes, infrastructure development and effective delivery of public services. Therefore, every household must ensure that their details are included in the Census records, he appealed. If families find that their house has not yet been covered or if they notice that Census official has not visited their residence so far, the Additional Commissioner exhorted them to contact the specially established GVMC census control room by dialling 7893209417. Alternatively, people can also visit their respective ward secretariat and provide their household details for registration in the Census process.
The GVMC Additional Commissioner and City Census Officer appealed to the public to extend complete cooperation to the house listing process and ensure accurate registration of their family details and contribute to the successful conduct of Census-2027.
