Mumbai: Actress Saiee M Manjrekar has said that working on a film set in a different era offered her a unique and enriching experience, allowing her to approach her craft with greater depth and observation.

The actress, who will next be seen in "India House", a project backed by Ram Charan in his debut production venture, spoke about the challenges and excitement of portraying a character in a pre-independence setting. She explained that working in a period film required a shift in mindset, as everything from language to emotional expression differed significantly from contemporary storytelling.

Set against the backdrop of India's pre-independence era, "India House" explored a crucial moment in history, offering a visually rich and emotionally layered narrative. Saiee said that the authenticity of the setting-from costumes to environment-helped her immerse herself fully into the character.

She noted that the distinct texture of the era, including its art, fashion and mannerisms, encouraged her to slow down and observe finer details as an actor. According to her, the experience enhanced her performance, as the surroundings played a key role in shaping her portrayal.

The actress, daughter of filmmaker-actor Mahesh Manjrekar, described the project as a significant learning curve. She said that understanding the mindset of people from that time period and bringing honesty to the character had been both challenging and rewarding.

The film was being shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu and was mounted on a grand scale, aiming to present a compelling period narrative.

Saiee made her acting debut with a brief role in the Marathi film "Kaksparsh" in 2012. She was last seen in the Telugu action drama "Arjun Son of Vyjayanthi", directed by Pradeep Chilukuri. The film featured an ensemble cast including Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Vijayashanti, Sohail Khan, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Srikanth and R. Sarathkumar.

The film served as a spiritual sequel to the 1990 film "Karthavyam", with Vijayashanti reprising her role as Kalyan Ram's mother.
