Shalini Kondepudi praises 'Sing Geetham' novelty

The Hans India 3 weeks ago

Legendary director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is coming forward with his most ambitious project, 'Sing Geetham'. Nag Ashwin has produced the film under the prestigious banners Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema.

Ayaan, Ahalya Bamru, and Shalini Kondepudi have played key roles in the film. Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music.

The teaser and songs of 'Sing Geetham', which have already been released, have received a good response. 'Sing Geetham' is set to release in theaters worldwide on June 11. On this occasion, heroine Shalini Kondepudi shared the features of the film in a press conference.

How did the journey of 'Sing Geetham' begin?

-Earlier, I had done films like 'Jayamma Panchayathi', 'Shubham', and 'My Dear Donga'. I came to know through people I know that there was a character with negative shades in this film. I decided to do any role in Singeetham garu's film. I went for the audition. I got the okay a month after the audition.

-There has never been a film in this genre before.

Everything in this film is musical. Every artist needs to be able to sing in a certain rhythm. We have done many workshops for this.

What is this story going to be like? How did it feel to work under the direction of Singeetham garu?

-The idea for this story came to Singeetham many years ago. However, it is a story that still feels very relevant today. Every word in it is musical. Even the conversations flow like songs.

-The recently released song has given the audience some clarity on the tone of the film. But why is everyone singing the words like songs? What is the reason behind it? You will know when you watch the film. Singeetham garu personally supervised every aspect. The film was made according to his vision. I feel lucky to work under his direction.

Is this a fictional story?

-This story takes place in a fictional village called 'Kuberapuram'. What happens in that village? Why does everyone speak in the form of songs? You should watch and enjoy it in the theater.

-This is a completely original concept. It has no film reference. The only reference we have is the song and Nag Ashwin's vision. Nag Ashwin's vision and sensibility are also visible in the film.

-This is the first musical comedy film in the history of Indian cinema. It gives an innovative feel, just like Singeetham's previous films.

Tell us about your character?

-In Singeetham garu's film, every character has a special significance in the story. The villain character I played is also equally strong. A woman with a mindset that wants to achieve what she wants. A character who believes that what she believes is true.

-There are many shades in this role. There is also entertainment. This is a very crucial role in the story. Along with the hero and heroine roles, my role is also very entertaining. Such roles do not come often.

-Not everyone gets the opportunity to act in a story like this. We were given such rare luck through this film.

What was the most challenging aspect of this?

-There are many actors who sing songs. But in this, the words have to be sung like a song. That is the real challenge. Usually, singers have one voice when they sing a song and another when they speak. But in this, the speaking itself becomes the song. That is a very difficult process.

-Devi Sri Prasad garu provided wonderful music. He transformed words into songs wonderfully. His music gave great strength.

-I also learned a lot through this movie. It is a movie made entirely in the style of Singeetham. I enjoyed it a lot as an

audience member.

What about the producers?

-Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema are very passionate producers. They are very friendly. Such new types of films cannot be made unless they love cinema. They have produced this film with great honesty. I wish this film a big success. If such new types of films are successful, many others will come forward with new ideas.

You make films very selectively, don't you?

-I look for good stories and good roles. If such roles come, I will have to do a film

every month (laughs).

What are your next movies?

-I have already written the film 'My Dear Donga'. My next film will be directed by me. I am also writing the story. That is why I felt it would be good if I directed it myself. It is being made in the comedy genre. I like making films that make the audience laugh.
