Hyderabad: The Aeronautical Society of India convened its 74th annual general body meeting today, bringing together distinguished dignitaries and experts from the aviation and aerospace sectors.
D Sridhar Babu, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, Industries & Commerce, and Legislative Affairs, was the chief guest.
On the occasion, the book titled 'Compendium on Civil Aviation Regulations in India', authored by Prof V Balakista Reddy, was formally released by the Minister. Prof Reddy was commended for his significant academic contribution to the domain of air and space law. The Minister noted that such scholarly works are essential in strengthening the knowledge base and policy framework of emerging and strategic sectors.
While addressing the gathering, Prof. Reddy highlighted his significant contributions to aerospace and defence law over the last three decades. He also elaborated on his role in preparing the Space Activities Bill, 2017, which is presently pending before Parliament. Emphasising the growing importance of these domains, he underscored the need for strengthening Aerospace and Defence education and Research in India.
He further highlighted the introduction of new UG and PG programmes by TGCHE, such as BA and MA (defence & security studies), BBA (aviation management), space technology and space governance.
He said that in an era marked by rapid technological advancements and evolving global and environmental challenges, the aviation and space sectors have emerged as critical drivers of connectivity, innovation, and economic growth.
