Unlike many countries, Germany usually requires 13 years of formal education for direct entry into under graduate courses. Since schooling of India typically allows a 12-year system, most of the students cannot directly enroll in German bachelor's program after completing class 12

Language proficiency is an important element of application process. For Germany Taught programs specifically, students are usually required to demonstrate proficiency through certain exams such as TestDaF or DSH. University typically requires IELTS or TOEFL scores for the English taught programs.

Application Process and Documentation

Applications are usually submitted either through university portals or through the centralized platforms such as Uni-Assist, which evaluates the international academic qualifications. One of the standard requirements is opening a blocked account which currently requires around €11,000 per year to cover all living expenses such as accommodation, food, insurance and transportation.

The Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) has now made it compulsory for all the applicants from Indian Boards to have minimum of 70% in Class XII. Another pathway of the same mainly include completing 1 years of bachelor's degree in India, which also makes students eligible for direct entry in the German Universities. Additionally, those students who have successfully cleared JEE Mains along with JEE advanced also have academic advantage in meeting the eligibility criteria.

Securing the Student Visa

After receiving an admission letter, students should apply for German Student visa through the Germany Embassy or consulate in India. Submission of academic documents, valid proof of finances, health insurance and attending an interview related to visa are the important procedures of Visa process.
