Emphasising the urgent need to expand quality medical services, Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said that strengthening healthcare infrastructure is no longer optional but essential, as he inaugurated a state-of-the-art super speciality facility on Mission Road in the city on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, he stressed the importance of sustained investment in healthcare infrastructure to meet the demands of a rapidly expanding urban population. "Strengthening healthcare infrastructure is not optional anymore it is essential. Facilities like this ensure that citizens have easier access to quality treatment without having to depend on limited public resources," he said. He further noted that such initiatives would enhance patient outcomes and contribute to improving overall healthcare delivery across the state. The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of noted cardiologist and MP C. N. Manjunath and actor-filmmaker Ramesh Aravind, along with other dignitaries from the medical and film fraternity.
NU hospitals chairman Dr. Venkatesh Krishnamoorthy stated that the hospital reflects a commitment to providing world-class super speciality services, while Managing Director Dr. Prasanna Venkatesh highlighted the role of digital integration in achieving improved clinical outcomes.
Ramesh Kannan, Senior Partner at Somerset Indus Healthcare Fund, said the institution's focus on nephrology, urology, male infertility, pediatric urology, uro-oncology, robotics, and transplant care makes it a specialised centre of excellence. He added that the hospital's emphasis on ethical practices, transparency, in-house expertise, and a "patient-first" approach made it a strong candidate for investment and long-term growth.
The newly launched NU Hospital marks a significant addition to Bengaluru's growing healthcare ecosystem. Equipped with advanced medical technologies and a patient-centric design, the facility aims to reinforce its expertise in urology, nephrology, fertility, and transplant care.
