Hyderabad: To strengthen student employability and professional readiness, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) has launched its first-of-its-kind structured internship programme on Tuesday.

The programme is designed to enhance students' career prospects, build professional skills, and provide exposure to higher education governance and policy-making. Announcing the launch, Prof. Reddy revealed that 15 students from Andhra Mahila Sabha College of Law for Women have been selected as the first batch of interns.

He emphasised that internships have now become a critical prerequisite for employment opportunities, offering industry exposure, practical knowledge, and even pre-placement offers (PPOs) from leading organisations. He noted that the initiative would help bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace realities.

The internship programme is designed to give students a comprehensive understanding of higher education administration, policy formulation, and institutional functioning. Interns will work under the guidance of experienced mentors and will be continuously evaluated based on work quality, time management, professional conduct, and creativity.

Prof. Reddy explained that the initiative is part of TGCHE's broader vision to systematically nurture talented youth in research, policy design, and educational leadership. He added that the programme would encourage innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration, and would prepare students to take on leadership roles in the education sector in the future.

By connecting academic learning with governance and policy, the internship program is a significant step in preparing the next generation of education leaders in Telangana.

It equips students with practical skills and gives them a chance to contribute to the state's higher education transformation.
