Hyderabad: The Telangana Council of Higher Education(TGCHE) has formally alerted the Nampally Police Station about fraudulent calls being made in its name.

TGCHE Secretary Prof. Sriram Venkatesh said on Monday that several complaints had been received from VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Technology and Geetanjali Engineering College. According to the complaints, a caller using mobile number 9502108951 was demanding money while impersonating officials of the Council. Verification revealed that the number appears on Truecaller as Telangana Council of Higher Education, along with the official logo, creating a misleading impression. Further enquiry with Airtel Customer Care confirmed that the number is registered to Ambati Balaram from Srikakulam.

The Council expressed concern that such impersonation amounts to misuse of its name and reputation, potentially leading to financial fraud and confusion among the public. In a letter dated April 20 Prof Venkatesh requested the Station House Officer of Nampally Police Station to conduct a detailed enquiry, verify the activities linked to the number and initiate strict legal action against those responsible.

The TGCHE urged to treat the complaint with urgency to prevent further fraudulent activities and safeguard public interest.
