Visakhapatnam: With an aim to bring down road accidents and promote public safety, the Anakapalli district police have intensified its traffic awareness initiatives across the district.

Following the directions of Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha and Anakapalli Sub-Division DSP Sravani, police officials are conducting extensive awareness programmes to educate citizens on the importance of following traffic regulations.

As part of the campaign, a special traffic awareness seminar was organised at the summer camp conducted at the ISKCON temple located on the Anakapalli National Highway.

Addressing the gathering, the district Traffic Police Station Inspector Venkata Narayana and Traffic SI Seshagiri Rao educated children and adults on crucial road safety measures.

The officials highlighted risks involved in over-speeding, riding without helmets and driving under the influence of alcohol. They also explained the penalties and legal consequences imposed for violations of traffic rules, stressing the need for responsible behaviour on roads.

Later, ISKCON representatives led by Prabhuji administered an oath to participants, urging participants to follow traffic norms and take the onus of encouraging the community to follow suit.

Further, the traffic police said that instilling awareness about traffic rules from a young age would play a significant role in preventing road accidents in the future. The programme witnessed participation from ISKCON representatives, students and parents.
