Vijayawada: Former Gannavaram MLA Dr Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan, along with YSRCP Krishna district president Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani), on Wednesday filed a complaint with Krishna District Additional SP Naidu at the Superintendent of Police office in Machilipatnam.

They alleged that a coordinated smear campaign against him was being conducted through social media, YouTube channels, and television platforms. In his complaint, Dr Vamsi stated that since April 13, a 'deliberate and organised digital attack' has been carried out using visuals from a private gathering, which were allegedly recorded without his consent. He alleged that the videos were edited, cropped and circulated with morphed audio, misleading thumbnails and defamatory captions to tarnish his image and mislead the public.

Clarifying the context, Dr Vamsi said the visuals were from a purely private and informal gathering with close associates, and not from any public or political event. He alleged that certain unidentified persons clandestinely recorded the footage and later manipulated it to create a false narrative.

The complaint further stated that multiple social media and YouTube channels circulated similar content with provocative titles, attempting to portray the private interaction as a controversial incident. Dr Vamsi denied making any of the statements being attributed to him, including remarks on political issues, and termed them as fabricated. He also alleged that the visuals were selectively edited to highlight his presence while concealing the full context, with the intention of creating sensationalism and causing reputational damage.
